The Lot 11 and Area Watershed Management Group recently joined with area residents to remove litter from beaches in their municipality. Clean-ups were held later in the summer to accommodate the piping plover population, a species at risk that nests in the area.
Karen Rank, watershed group coordinator, said, “Our shorelines are so important to many species, and keeping them clean and free of garbage is a yearly undertaking for our group. We get great support from volunteers, and are grateful to the Harbour Authority of Milligan’s Shore for taking care of disposal of the collected waste.”
