The Lot 11 and Area Community

Our Community Hall

82 Milligan's Wharf Road, Freeland

Our community hall is located at the intersection of Route 12 and Milligan's Wharf Road (Route 173) in Freeland. Built circa 1958, it was originally a school. In 1973, after consolidation of regional schools, the Freeland Women's Institute acquired the building and created a community meeting place. In 2011, the Women's Institute generously donated the building to the Rural Municipality of Lot 11 and Area for use as an emergency operations centre and temporary warm-up shelter.

In 2012, our Municipal Emergency Measures Organization equipped the building with an emergency power generator. This was the first step in an ongoing effort to prepare the facility for use as an emergency operations centre and temporary shelter during a state of emergency. This project was made possible by the support of the PEI Office of Public Safety and Public Safety Canada's Joint Emergency Preparedness Program.

Our municipality will continue to operate the facility as a community meeting centre. Community organizations and residents are encouraged to rent the hall for events.

Come Use Your Community Hall

Your next family gathering can be held right in your neighborhood. Consider renting the hall for birthday parties, anniversaries, reunions, or any time you plan to have more guests than you can comfortably host at home.

Oh, and don't forget, Warburton Memorial Park can be a place for outdoor recreation and fun. Just imagine, a family reunion with hotdogs at the park and supper at the hall!
